Today was Very Windy with a side of Wind. Goodness gracious it was hard to stand up to the gales at times. So I bundled up in hat and mittens and broke out my new boots! I have to admit, boots are a lot more comfortable that I thought and they’re extra warm since no wind goes up my pantaloons.

Hat + mittens (okay, I know they’re not mittens, they’re gloves, but mittens has a nicer ring to it): Target. I think. It’s been a few years.
Coat: Guess from Nordstrom Rack for about 1/3 of the original price!
Sweater: H&M, you can’t see it under my ensemble, but it’s a green, v-neck, 3/4-sleeve sweater
Jeans: H&M
Boots: Nine West from Buffalo Exchange

I hope to wear my boots more often. 🙂

As an ode to What I Wore, I decided to take a photo (albeit, crappy) of my outfit today. Jessica Schroeder is pretty genius in my opinon and I absolutely love her Web site. She photographs her outfits on most days and tells us where each piece is from. Today my outfit happened to be mostly thrifted so I owe it to her to describe my outfit likewise.

Earrings: Nordstrom Rack
Necklace: thrifted from Mustardseed
Shirt: J.Crew thrifted from Mustardseed
Jeans: Silence and Noise thrifted from guess where… Mustardseed
Flats: Fairy Tales are True from Rugged Wearhouse

I was wearing a black, patent leather belt around my waist earlier too, but have since removed it when I got home from work. I love that none of the things I wore today were sold at full price. Hurrah for thrift/discount/consignment stores, I’m absolutely in love.

10 Dec
  • the smell of winter. fresh, crisp air that chills your body but not the soul.
  • the stream to lake artemesia. my measure of how much it rained, i would also look at how high the water level was when i walked by on my way to class. now i only drive by, but i can still hear the sound of the water rushing past when the stream is swollen.
  • local roads. when every highway is at a standstill
  • metro. smart, safe. convenient.
  • antifreeze.
  • safety while driving in snow. people who understand that driving slow in bad weather is acceptable.
  • people who are smart when they go out. who know how to handle themselves and know their limits.
  • cooking with new recipes. exploring new foods
  • people who know how to have fun without help from substances
  • sports bars. i don’t look like the idiot who is watching the game b/c everyone is doing it.
  • men. you don’t have to take care of them. and they’re easy to hang out with.
  • hot cocoa with milk + peppermint
  • nights in doing simple things like watching movies with my fam.
  • my first football-free weekend, when instead i sat in front of my tv literally all weekend watching ncaa+nfl.
  • really good advertising. guerilla advertising. ad agencies.
  • thrift stores. bargains like a $7 blazer.
  • modsquad! i’m actually part of a fashion thing. this is cool
  • clementines. oh so yummy. i could eat a whole box of you in two days. and i will.
  • half. even if he’s halfway across the world, i love that i managed to catch him online for a minute. and i love that his brother is visiting and took photos.

6 Dec
  • carpooling. you don’t show up alone. you have someone else who knows where you parked. safer. more economical and environmentally friendly.
  • reunions. somewhat awkward but overall it was great to see old loves and catch up. i just wish i learned more about the FUN things people did with their life.
  • friends who understand if you just don’t want to go out or just don’t feel like drinking.
  • turkey and milk. and friends who are up at 1am with you trying desperately to fall asleep the night before turkey bowl. laughing about drinking, food coma, teeth brushing and other various things involved with desperation
  • intramural fields. the few times i’ve played on them it’s resulted in a championship game win. you can’t beat those kinda odds.
  • my REM team. as i drove away from CP, i thought, when am i ever going to have the chance to do something for God and in the company of such supportive and encouraging people? you help me grow.
  • the trophy and the title. for whom those sorts of things still matter because it certainly took a backseat for me this year
  • sleep. my poor body is a huge fan of resting. or at least more so than consuming meds
  • little kids. i love em. although not stellar at commanding a group of them, i can def play tag with them out in the rain. but really, they make the best comments.
  • industry events. holiday parties. reasons to look good. meeting new people. getting to know friends better.
  • massages. head massages when you get your hair done. pampering. people who take care of your needs.
