thankful thursday

28 Oct
  • inclines and speed, they make my easy runs (no inclines, minimal speed increases) that much easier
  • liking running. it made sunday practice a lot easier and the days following less painful.
  • fab friends who so readily hang out w me lately.
  • girls hh.
  • my girls that look out for me when creepy stalkers appear
  • apples. apple cider. apple juice. applesauce. caramel apples…
  • orchards! farms! i love fresh food.
  • churches and people that welcome me with open arms. in a way, it’s good to be home.
  • being able to watch SNF again, just in time for the steelers/saints game this weekend. plus it’s a small comfort to sit at home and watch football games without all the craziness of a bar.
  • friendly people.
  • new starts. fresh perspectives.
  • goose eggs.
  • the fact that rob and i still talk frequently and he’s been an absolute sweetheart about the move.
  • thrift stores. sample sales. new dresses.
  • winter break plans! 🙂
  • my return to cooking after a couple weeks hiatus.

  • incline and speed variables on treadmills. they make my workouts harder and more enjoyable. i like that i can change things as i wish.
  • inclines and ergs. they make normal running a lot easier.
  • my locker. not really mine, but i enjoy that i use the same locker 99% of the time at the gym and that on most days between 530 and 7, my stuff will be in it.
  • britney spears. sometimes she has good songs that somewhat classic. and when i hear them randomly, i can’t help but enjoy them.
  • the smell of a woodburning fireplace fire in winter that greets me as i walk outside in my neighborhood
  • smores.
  • the smell of cool, crisp, autumn air
  • homecoming! something to look forward to
  • k+k. my staple hh girls. always up for something and i’m glad i combined friend groups.
  • dates, dinners, plans. it’s good to have something to do.
  • my hometown friends. it goes to show how fab they are when i disappear for 9 months and come back and we can pick up where we left off. and especially the people who kept up with me during that time.
  • people that pray for me. and offer wisdom. i really appreciate it.
  • coach. the things that he has known me through and still welcomes me.
  • my car. it is cold outside. i like not freezing.
  • my new jacket! finally i own an autumn jacket and i love it. and i better have loved it for what i paid.
  • google and my various internet websites that amuse me bc they still think that i’m in manhattan.
  • rob’s friends that still treat me as a direct friend. it’s great knowing that through it all, i’ve made fab friends of my own.
  • scarves. hats. socks and closed toe shoes.
  • being in the right place at the right time.
  • the calls, updates and texts. they will ease me back into normal life.
  • stuffed bearplane. from the first nickname i have that fits me perfectly, i’m amazed that i have exactly that in a stuffed animal. i may keep him forever because of it.
  • little kids. esp at work. they usually brighten my day.
  • my bluetooth headset. i like that it is pink and matches a lot of things i have. totally unplanned. but really i like it bc it’s very useful due to this new hand-free driving law.
  • soup+croissant, chili+crackers, hot cocoa+milk. things that comfort me on a cold, dreary day
  • harry potter. project runway. things i escape to when i want to do my own thing.
  • gifts. especially the unexpected ones.
  • peaceful sleep. no bad dreams. burrowing in bed.
  • flight tracker. for peace of mind.

  • trust. the surest way to gain my respect.
  • pure joy. especially as exhibited by children.
  • best friends who never fail to love me and take care of me.
  • seeing raq. i’m glad that i managed to see her in possibly the only two weeks she’ll be in the states for a very long time.
  • my room. whereas virginia woolf put it quite differently, my room is my haven. where i can curl into bed and hide from the world. where i can dream from my window. where i can plot adventures.
  • books. i like reading. fiction is fabulous. i don’t read nearly as much as i’d like
  • chances to pretend to be posh. like going to wd-50. it was definitely an experience and i enjoyed it a lot
  • low-key weekends. soon i will be able to have many of these. watching football, catching up on tv shows, cooking, baking, running, enjoying autumn.
  • new workout routines. it’s nice to change things up and make other muscles do something for once. erging, speed work and inclines will soon make me more fit.
  • dietetics. i really value everything i learned while i studied sciences. i love that it’s applicable to everyday life.
  • drivers that thank you when they switch into your lane.
  • my daddy. the ultimate bug killer. and car maintenance mechanic. and for the random late night talks.
  • having a skilled profession. my skills will always be in demand.
  • fresh starts. clean slates. opportunities and options.
  • time to cook/bake. though i don’t usually have much time in my week to spare, i find time to cook many of my lunches, dinners and random treats.
  • fresh food. healthy lifestyles. supporting my local economy.
  • people who listen. friends who genuinely care to ask how i am or how my day went.
  • paid leave. so that i can have adventures and explore new places.
  • sweaters. knitwear. chunky yarn tops.
  • cute shoes. skinny pants. fabulous hairstyles.
  • supportive parents. they’d let me do anything for a living. they mostly stay out of my way and let me have my lifestyle.
  • the percentage measurement on exercise machines. i love knowing that i am 40% done and almost at the halfway mark. or knowing that i only have 20% left to go.

  • dinner parties where people cook
  • good doctor appts
  • fball season and going to HoB every sunday
  • school starting so the campus is lively again
  • having friends on campus who buy me food
  • cooking and baking new things that turn out well
  • people who enjoy the food i make and people with whom i can share food
  • my friends that i talk to on a regular basis even though i may not see them often
  • ff, who at a moments notice will show up at carmen’s, and somehow we’ve both just worked out and are gross
  • rb, who is consistent and loving, she never fails to check in on me when i need her
  • the quiet calms beneath the storms
  • dinner at wd-50. although it wasn’t the top choice, it was still special and i appreciate the gesture
  • less projects at work, september/october is a slow month transition
  • late, late games so that i can go home; early games so that i can eat w the team after and still sleep at a normal time
  • outlet shopping. new shoes. having a car and venturing out of the city.
  • VIP shopper savings
  • fabulous fashion even if i could never afford or own it
  • project runway. mondo!
  • desserts. a special treat every now and then
  • watching torrential rain from the safety of the indoors, almost like when i was little and we sat in the garage and watched the rain as a family
  • great feats of mother nature.
  • latin food. and the staples of junk food: empanadas, quesadillas, guac, burritos
  • passionfruit, lychee, peaches, strawberries, mangoes
  • seasonal fruits and foods
  • 6pm at the gym, when the after class/work rush and pre-dinner rush suddenly disappears.
